Mr Ray's Page

Stuart Ray grew up just outside of Houston, TX. He moved to Austin in 2005 to start his undergraduate work at the University of Texas at Austin. After completing his bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Stuart moved to San Marcos to work on a Master's degree in Secondary Education. While at Texas State, he worked as a graduate research assistant studying Project-based learning and ultimately published his own research on the impacts of PBL in the high school science classroom. 
 
He began his teaching career at Manor New Technology High School, after having completed his student teacher there. He taught Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Anatomy & Physiology, Environmental Systems, and Science Research and Design, in addition to serving as the Science Department Head for two years. While in Manor he worked for Texas State as a teaching assistant for their study abroad program in Cambodia. He also served as a guest professor for undergraduate and graduate courses both through Texas State and the Royal University of Phnom Penh, in the capital city of Cambodia. 
 
After his time in Manor, Mr. Ray was part of the found staff for Cedars International Next Generation High School. He has taught Chemistry and Biology at Cedars. Two years ago, he took a new role as the Dean of Student Services. In this job he helps manage the schedule and credits, college advising, and other logistical duties on campus. He is also a member of the 2019 cohort of Hollyhock Fellowship through the Graduate School of Education at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA. 
 
Outside of the classroom, Mr. Ray works with Advanced Reasoning in Education to design and conduct professional development for teachers and administrators around the world. He has presented at conferences and held trainings in numerous states in the US, as well as China and Australia. 
 
When he is not at school, Mr. Ray spends his time camping and hiking with his dog, Mack, woodworking in his garage, rock climbing, and working out. He is a big fan of UT Longhorn athletics as well as the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros.
