HS Principal's Weekly Message 9/15/24

Greetings CINGHS Family,

Thanks to everyone who attended Meet the Teacher Night last week! For those who couldn't join us, we covered several important topics, including Title 1, Edlio, Parent Connectors, the Parent Involvement Committee (PIC), and upcoming 2024-25 school year events. If you missed it, don't worry—you can catch up during our virtual PIC meetings on the second Tuesday of every month. We will send out a Zoom link to the meetings on the day of the meetings, ensuring that you're always in the loop.

There are many exciting activities happening on campus! Our clubs are well underway, with the National Honor Society, Student Council, Key Club, Video Game Club, Photography Club, Esports, and Basketball all in full swing.

Students are doing incredible work in the classroom. This past Friday, ELA students in Ms. King's and Social Studies students in Mrs. Acevedo's classes delivered outstanding professional presentations on the Mayan, Aztec, or Inca civilizations to guests and parents. Their hard work has been exceptional!

Are you interested in supporting your student's math learning at home? I'm delighted to share that Education Week is launching a new, free mini-course: Teaching Math. This five-week email course will provide you with actionable strategies to assist your students in all grade levels in comprehending math. You'll gain evidence-based best practices across various math areas, including fractions, word problems, and more.

Join me in this mini-course, and together, we can explore strategies and resources to strengthen your child's math skills and confidence.

Here’s what the mini-course will be focusing on:

  • Week 1: Introduction to Math Best Practices
  • Week 2: Math Progression
  • Week 3: Fractions
  • Week 4: Word Problems
  • Week 5: Tackling Math Anxiety

Let's unite in this journey to ensure our students develop strong foundations in math! You can register for the course by following this link: Education Week Mini-Course: Teaching Math,

We would like to give a warm welcome to Mr. Ricard, our Security Guard, who is now permanently stationed on our campus to help keep us safe.

Finally, we are progressing on collecting the required $40 supply. Please pay Mrs. Lopez in cash at the front office or through My School Buck online if you have not paid.

As always, thank you for your continued support. Together, we can make a difference.

Until next week,

Steven
