New Student Orientation for all new and incoming 9th graders will be held on Wednesday, August 8th, from 9 am to 1 pm. Lunch will be provided. This student-centered, interactive orientation will cover important topics to help students get familiar with our school. We will cover:

  • Our School’s Core Values
  • Campus Culture
  • Project-Based Learning and Echo
  • House
  • School-wide Learning Outcomes
  • Student email and iPad distribution

School Year Information

  • Communication: All classes will utilize our online learning platform, Echo. Students will get an Echo account and will use it for each class during the day. Parents are encouraged to sign up for an Echo Viewer account to view their student’s assignments, agendas, and grades. There will be a sign-up for Parent Echo Viewer accounts at our first PIC meeting and Meet the Teacher Night.

Most of our communications during the year will be sent out via Edlio. All new parents should soon receive an email with instructions for setting up the Edlio app. Messages can be received as emails and push notifications through the Edlio App. You can also contact teachers/staff by responding to posts or messaging directly.

The school website is the other place to check for announcements and campus information. Here, you can see important announcements from the District and our campus, view our academic calendar and events, find contact information for teachers/staff, and access other valuable pages for College/Career planning, dual credit opportunities, clubs, and more.

  • Morning Drop Off: Students may be dropped off at the cafeteria each morning starting at 7:30 am. Please be mindful of students and staff members in the parking lot when dropping off your student(s). Students who arrive before school are expected to stay in the cafeteria unless they are with a teacher or staff member. Students are NOT allowed to leave campus once they have been dropped off unless they are signed out by a parent/guardian.

  • Breakfast times: Breakfast will be available for FREE to all students starting at 7:30 a.m. each school day. It will stop being served at 8:15 a.m. each day to allow time for students to finish eating before classes begin.

  • Lunch times and food drop-off: Lunches will happen at the times listed on the above daily class schedule. Students are welcome to eat their lunch in the cafeteria or at one of the benches/tables in the parking lot. Unless told otherwise, students are not allowed to eat in any area inside the building other than the cafeteria.

Parents wishing to drop off lunch or food for their students must do so in the front office. Any outside food brought in without going through the front office violates our Campus code and will be taken away. Students cannot have food delivered to campus through Uber Eats, Favor, or any other service.

  • Afternoon Pick Up: School gets out at 4:05 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 1:30 p.m. Friday. Students exit the building through the cafeteria doors. Please be mindful of students and staff members in the parking lot when picking up your student(s).

  • Parent Involvement Committee (PIC): Join us on the second Tuesday of each month to stay informed about and involved with campus events. The PIC helps to organize things such as Teacher Appreciation and events like our College and Careers fair. The PIC will also get monthly info sessions on various topics related to our school, such as PBL, Echo, supporting learning outside of school, College/Career planning, and more. Meetings will run from 5 pm to 6 pm via Zoom or Google Meets, so you can join from anywhere!

  • Project Supply Fee: Each student is expected to pay the front office a supply fee of $40 to help cover the cost of classroom materials and project supplies. This fee can be paid in cash or check to Laura Lopez in the front office or online through the MySchoolBucks site

We are excited to see your students and you for another great school year in the next few weeks!

Sincerely,

Steve Zipkes, Principal Stuart Ray, Dean of Student Services
